Dahlia
Hi, I’m Dahlia. I’ve lived at Lanta Animal Welfare for over two years, and if you came looking for me you’d probably have to wait a while. I’m the one tucked into a quiet corner, watching, working out whether you’re safe before I come any closer.
I arrived from Phi Phi island with wounds on my skin, an infected eye, and no interest in letting anyone near me. The team treated what they could see. What sat underneath took far longer to understand.
My skin flares in cycles: redness, overgrooming, wounds that heal and come back, usually in the same few spots. My left eye does the same, clouding over, clearing, then clouding again. It’s suspected to be linked to a virus I may carry for life. My liver needs watching too. One of my blood values runs high, so the team checks it every few months to catch anything early.
None of this has a single fix. It gets managed, not cured. Quiet stretches, then a check-up, a change of medication, the occasional flare.
I know what that adds up to. I’m not the bold, friendly cat who wins you over in five minutes. I’m the shy one who needs time. Put that together with a medical file this long, and I’m not many people’s first pick. I’ve watched cats with far shorter stories leave for homes while I’ve stayed.
Would you sponsor me instead?
Your support covers the blood tests that flag my liver early, the medication that keeps my skin and eyes from getting worse, and the slow, patient care a cat like me needs. It also frees the team to give the same attention to the next complicated case that comes through the door. In return, you’ll get real updates from me, flare-ups included, not only the good days.
I’ve finally found a calm life here. Sponsoring me is what keeps it going.
